Columbus Day is Monday, Oct. 13, and many are wondering if banks are open or closed.

A few national banks are open on the federal holiday.

Open Banks:
Chase – Open; but check hours before going.

TD Bank – Open; but check hours before going.

Wells Fargo – Open; but check hours before going.

Meanwhile, PNC Bank and SunTrust will have supermarket and in-store branches open. However, one should check hours before heading out.

Closed Banks:
Bank of America – Closed

Capital One – Closed

Citibank – Closed

HSBC – Closed

US Bank – Closed

And SavingAdvice.com notes that “most credit unions are closed on Columbus Day.”

“Credit Unions are similar to banks when it comes to the days they are open and closed, and most close on federal holidays. While there are a few regional and local credit unions which remain open for Columbus Day, the vast majority of credit unions observe the holiday and remain closed. The ones most likely to remain open are satellite branches located in grocery stores or other retail outlets. If you have any doubts or questions, you should contact your local credit union to confirm whether or not they are open on October 13,” the website notes.

Online banking is always available and ATMs can be used, too.

Meanwhile, post office, DMVs, schools, and the stock exchange are closed for the day. Mail delivery is also suspended until Tuesday.

Most big retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Home Depot are open.

However, Costco is closed.
