BUENOS AIRES, Argentina —Shen Yun Performing Arts captivated audiences in Buenos Aires on April 19 with performances of classical Chinese dance and music inspired by 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.
Audience members praised the production’s artistic beauty, spiritual themes, and uplifting message.
Sulaiman Syarif, the Indonesian ambassador to Argentina, described the performance as both inspiring and meaningful.
“On behalf of the Indonesian Embassy in Buenos Aires, I saw a very good performance from Shen Yun,” Mr. Syarif said. “It is about the ordinary man reaching for the sky. It is a really amazing story.”
Sabrina Ajmechet, a member of Argentina’s National Congress, said the performance beautifully showcased the richness of Chinese culture.
“It demonstrates the cultural richness in a very beautiful way,” Ms. Ajmechet said. “It’s a pleasure to watch.”
Melissa Chialanza, a physician, said the performance left a lasting impression on her.
“Spectacular, lovely,” Ms. Chialanza said. “I leave fulfilled, with many things to think about.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from before communism through classical Chinese dance and music.
Audience members said the performance’s message of kindness, peace, and universal values deeply resonated with them.
“One comes in with the idea of seeing a show, and I think one leaves filled with positive energy,” said Gabriel Bobadilla, defense attaché at the Embassy of Uruguay. “One leaves filled with many very good things.”
Ms. Chialanza said the deeper meaning of the performance stayed with audiences beyond the visual presentation.
“Beyond the colors, the dance, and how it all intertwines, it’s the message you take away,” she said.
Mr. Syarif said the production conveyed an important message about compassion and peace.
“The message is that we must be kind to people,” he said. “Peace must be the only thing that we can have here.”
Ms. Ajmechet said the values presented in the performance are universal.
“They are absolutely universal values,” she said. “Everyone, from their own place, has to work to ensure they are respected.”
Mr. Bobadilla praised the artistic director and said Shen Yun offers audiences a sense of hope during difficult times.
“Beyond building culture, he is building something that remains in people’s souls and memories,” Mr. Bobadilla said. “These kinds of artistic expressions offer, at the very least, a sense of hope in a world filled with so much chaos today.”
Ms. Ajmechet said the performance balanced beauty with inner calm.
“It really is a show that transmits a lot of beauty and a lot of tranquility at the same time,” she said.
Mr. Syarif said he felt honored to attend the performance.
“I love it, and I am very, very happy to see this show,” he said. “It’s a great honor to see this performance.”
