A performance by Shen Yun Performing Arts in Leipzig, Germany, was met with a full house on March 9. Audience members highlighted the value of the traditional Chinese culture that the company presents.
“I thought the music was very nice. And the choreography, the professionalism of the dancers, was truly top-notch,” said Eugen Schwabauer, a doctor.
“I found the performance very outstanding because it had a lot of joy and lightness. A lot of it was fairytale-like and very grounded. Everything was so light, you had the feeling everything was happening above the stage, in the air,” said Vladimir Golubchyk, a theater stage manager.
“Above all, I like the body language, how they can tell a story through dancing,” said Viola Holzhaus, a former ballet dancer.
Shen Yun tours the world with 8 companies that perform simultaneously. The company and its artists are dedicated to reviving China’s 5,000-year-old traditional culture from before communism.
“China has a very broad culture. It’s not just what we see on TV or what we see in the news, there’s much more to it. And with this show, I was able to confirm that Chinese culture is very broad,” said Isabella Almeida, an architect.
“I learned about different stories and myths that I hadn’t known before. And I learned a lot about millennia-old Chinese traditions. From surprising to funny stories, and even some sad events that stem from more modern times,” said Sandra Zechel, an employment agency press spokeswoman.
“Please continue to enrich the world with such beautiful color. This is a major event for every person on Earth,” said Mr. Golubchyk.
Shen Yun will perform in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain, on March 15 and 16.
