Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage in Tours, France, on Feb. 9 with another sold-out performance. Audiences admired the artistry of classical Chinese dance and the spirituality of traditional Chinese culture.

Gilles Bosseboeuf, mayor of Champagné-Saint-Hilaire, a French commune, said: “The artistic level is incredible, truly incredible. And although Chinese culture is what I don’t know much about, it still feels close to Europe. We can sense it’s very close to us.”

Jean-Marie Beauvais, an economist, said: “Really, it’s perfection.

“It’s exceptional. I don’t know the terms for dance, but honestly, I found everything to be very beautiful, very well synchronized. When 12 people perform the same dance, it’s extraordinary. You can feel that among the dancers, there is really a good atmosphere, great synchronization, and a strong team spirit. No one is trying to stand out too much. It’s truly well-balanced and harmonious,” Mr. Beauvais said.

“We were particularly amazed when the artists leapt over the barrier and the animation continues their action toward the sky. It’s really amazing, something amazing,” Mr. Beauvais said of Shen Yun’s trademark stage backdrop.

“The feeling is hard to put into words because it is so deep. And it’s magnificent—truly magnificent, truly magnificent. There is this tolerance, this authenticity. Compared to what we hear about China today, there is a huge contrast. We hear about people being oppressed, and yet here, we see these magnificent scenes. And indeed, this benevolence—it’s wonderful,” Mayor Bosseboeuf added.

Audiences praised Shen Yun’s expression of authenticity, benevolence, and tolerance. They also expressed admiration for Shen Yun‘s mission to revive China’s spiritual heritage once severed by communism.

“The connection between Earth and Heaven is very well done. And we see communist China appear and how it tried to cut off this momentum. Of course, this concerns Buddhists but also Christians. All of this is much broader,” Mr. Beauvais said.

As to his experience of the performance, Mr. Beauvais said, “For me, it’s more a feeling of peace, even though there is a lot of action. You never get bored and it still feels soothing.”

“Indeed, the scenes and this performance are magnificent because there is something profound that lifts us toward the Heavens. And truly, the scenes that emerge—both through the actors and through the cinematography [the digital background]—are gorgeous. It’s magnificent!” Mayor Bosseboeuf said.

“I think it’s at the same time an enjoyable moment and also makes us reflect on the effort required to reach that level. And essentially, as I was saying, it’s what we saw earlier—it’s a gateway between Earth and Heaven,” Mr. Beauvais said.

“This show is something you have to come and see. You have to come and see it. The best way to describe it is as a series of magnificent scenes, of art, beauty—feminine beauty, masculine beauty. And indeed, our perception of Asian people is often distorted. But when we see these magnificent scenes—these women, these men—we know it’s truly beautiful,” Mayor Bosseboeuf said.
