Shen Yun Performing Arts has been in the Northern German city of Mülheim for a five day tour. Theatergoers were amazed by the grace and artistry of the performance.

“The colors were like a dream,” fashion designer Ruth Heinen said. “Everything flowed, especially those costumes with the long sleeves, it was called water sleeves. That was terrific. The color combinations, the synchronicity of the dancers. How do they rehearse something like that? So, my great compliments. It was not just a dream for the eyes but for the soul.”

“The music and the combination with the dance are actually very graceful, can I put it that way. Very delicate. It has a great delicacy. I found that very beautiful,” company president Frank Verschuren said.

“Definitely something to watch, a very spectacular show. I found it very entertaining and diversified. Especially the singing, I found that really beautiful. A nice, fulfilling show,” hospital team leader Dennis Breg said.

With a mission to revive China’s divinely inspired ancient culture, New York-based Shen Yun brings traditional values to life through music and dance. Audience members said they gained life inspiration from the performance.

“First of all, the message of beauty but also the message of connection with the divine. And, of course, this tradition from China of honoring the divine and connecting through meditation,” Ms. Heinen said.

“(The performance shows) the good and the evil but also how evil can turn to good. That ultimately, you can get some kind of enlightenment as long as you stay in the right way in life or allow yourself to be inspired. Then, things can always work out for the best. I liked that very much,” Mr. Breg said.

“Turning towards spirituality, letting go of materialism, of this working and working in the ‘hamster wheel’ that we find ourselves in, letting go and turning away to the really important things in life. For example, spirituality, the divine, which is very clearly conveyed in the performance,” Jörg Krahlisch, a former postal company expert, said.

Sales engineer Matthias Bembenek said: “In the last third of the performance, I picked up another important point, where it was pointed out again that modern society has drifted relatively far away from the divine … What is shown by the performance is that we need to become aware of this, that this is actually not the right way for us to proceed. I take that as the most important message.”

“It hurts to see that this troupe is not allowed to perform in China and is being persecuted. But it is all the better that the performances are allowed to take place anywhere else in the world,” Mr. Krahlisch said.

“You can’t really describe it properly but that it’s definitely worth it, to come here and watch Shen Yun. It’s a really nice performance, and I couldn’t find anything else to compare it with,” Mr. Verschuren said.
