Shen Yun Performing Arts successfully closed the curtain in Livorno, Italy, on Jan. 28, showcasing heavenly scenes, traditional Chinese dance, and music. Audience members praised the performance for its artistry.
“Exciting, truly, truly moving, I would say,” said Marco Palermi, a hotel director. “The people are very talented. A show that truly leaves [you] emotional inside.”
“The strength and lightness of their movements. Another thing I really liked, I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s that stringed instrument with two strings that is incredible in its ability to evoke such emotion. Such beautiful harmony,” said Riccardo Geppetti, a chartered accountant.
“It was exciting, and I found it thrilling and also moving at times. There were wonderful artists, the singer, and also the instrument that the other artist played afterwards was exceptional. Truly a wonderful leap into Chinese culture,” said Lara Manetti, a business owner.
Shen Yun draws its inspiration from 5 millennia of traditional Chinese civilization. Ancient Chinese people believed their culture and values to be gifts from the Divine. Shen Yun is currently touring the world with eight companies, and every season, its artists bring an all-new program with original dance, music, costumes, and backdrops.
“I also really enjoyed the show. We couldn’t wait to come here to Livorno because we came from Bari to get tickets. There were no tickets available anywhere else in Italy. So it was a great adventure,” said Alvaro Pepe, a police inspector.
Some theatergoers also took note of a deeper message and praised the values Shen Yun conveyed on stage.
Ms. Manetti said, “The message of having a purpose in life, that everything we do comes back to us both for good and for bad. And this importance of appealing to something above us, whatever it may be, but not remaining in materiality, but in short going well beyond. This was very beautiful.”
Mr. Palermi said, “The message, more like dances that shout out freedom, gives a sense of happiness, and lifts you up. It was really beautiful to watch them.”
Shen Yun will be performing in Ancona, Italy, from Feb. 2 through Feb. 4.
