Personality Test: What's your dream house?
Big city living or town living in the suburbs? Join the 'tiny house' movement or opt for a country cottage escape? Answer these nine questions and we'll show you the response based on your preferences!
You're a city lover!
Hey there city lover! Based on your responses, we think an urban apartment might be the perfect choice for you. Apartments are part of a larger community building. Often located in towns and cities, compact city-living is both the economical and fun choice for crowded urban living. The downsides? You’ll be giving up storage space and the luxury of extra rooms for a growing family or visiting guests. The advantages though are many - a shorter commute and the delights of living in a bustling environment. They’re not for everyone though. Living in close proximity to other folks, you might have to worry about noise issues. The tight living quarters can also put people off. But if you want the thrill of living in the city, you can't beat an apartment.
You're a "tiny house" trendsetter!
Well, well - aren’t you the bold innovator? Based on your quiz responses, we think you should take a look at tiny houses - the newest way to get on the property ladder, or to simplify your busy life with a smaller and less expensive housing option. For people looking to simplify - while minimizing their environmental footprint, tiny houses are a new and cutting edge option. Like the name says, tiny houses are going to, well, small - often as small as 100 to 400 square feet. But they’re catching on with today’s homeowners. A smaller space has a lot of advantages. Much cheaper to build, you also need a very small plot of land - saving you money on both. You can put your tiny house on your own land, a family member’s property, or you can purchase them ready-made in a tiny house village. The tiny size has knock-on benefits - much cheaper to decorate and maintain, you’ll also save on heating and energy costs.
You're a suburban sophisticate!
Choices, choices... it sounds like you’re a bit conflicted. You love a bit of the city buzz, but having extra space both inside and out is important for you too. Choosing between city and country living can be tough. That’s where the suburbs come in to their own. Cheaper than the equivalent space in a big city, buying a suburban house will give the option of a larger house size - as well as more yard and garden options. Suburban houses come in many flavors - but will typically be found outside of central city limits. They often give you much easier access to parks and other natural attractions, and tend to have better school distracts for people looking to raise a family. Nowhere is perfect, of course. There are some negatives - suburban living often means living a similar house to your neighbors in a tract home setting, as well as sacrificing a bit of the character and social options of the city.
You're at home in the country!
Ah, the great outdoors… based on your quiz responses, we think that a country cottage could be your perfect escape. Sure, you appreciate the hustle and bustle of towns and cities - but it’s only in the country where you can fully relax and unwind. With a cottage in the country, you have a great deal of freedom. You can go quaint and homey - or rustic and roomy with loads of open space. Country cottages vary wildly in terms of architecture and design, but often are older, pastoral, and with loads of character. However, country living isn’t for everyone. It’s often quiet - too quiet for some. You’ll be on your own - much more than a place in the town or city. Amenities won’t be on your doorstep either - you probably will need to drive to the nearest town for shopping, restaurants, and other social activities. But if peace and quiet spell happiness to you - you should definitely explore the country cottage option. We recommend doing your homework. Check out a number of areas - then visit and chat with the locals. They’ll give you the straight skinny on what life is like in their country paradise.
