Canadian Lawmakers Welcome Shen Yun to Vancouver
As Shen Yun Performing Arts continues its 20th anniversary tour across Canada, political leaders in Western Canada are sending their congratulations and welcoming the company ahead of its arrival in Vancouver on April 8.
Federal Member of Parliament (MP) Hedy Fry congratulated Shen Yun in her letter, writing: “Since 2006, Shen Yun has shared classical Chinese dance and music with audiences around the world, celebrating cultural heritage and artistic expression through its performances.”
MP Brad Vis called Shen Yun “a breathtaking journey into the heart of China’s ancient civilization.” He wrote that “what makes Shen Yun truly remarkable is its ability to connect people to a heritage that might otherwise be forgotten.”
“Shen Yun is a shining example of how art can bridge cultures, inspire audiences, and keep history alive for future generations,” he said.
MP Shuvaloy Majumdar also sent a congratulatory letter, praising Shen Yun as an extraordinary production that brings to life the beauty of classical Chinese dance and music and expressed his sincere appreciation to the performers for their remarkable artistry.
MP Marc Dalton called Shen Yun an artistic and cultural treasure that uplifts audiences with universal values such as compassion, courage, loyalty, freedom, and respect. He also affirmed that he and his Conservative colleagues will continue to support freedom of speech, belief, and religion.
British Columbia provincial legislators Harman Bhangu, Bryan Tepper, and Reann Gasper also welcomed Shen Yun’s return to the province, lauding the company’s two decades of dedication, perseverance, and artistic achievement.
Mayors across British Columbia, including Mark Sager of West Vancouver, Surinderpal Rathor of Williams Lake, Megan Knight of White Rock, and Brad West of Port Coquitlam also praised Shen Yun and commended them for their ability to inspire, encouraging the public to attend the 2026 performances.
Shen Yun is set to perform six shows over five days at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver from April 8 to April 12, bringing audiences a glimpse into China’s rich history and culture from before communism.
