Doctor Explains Eastern Idea of Energy in Western Terms
Most people define the Chinese concept of energy or “Qi” (pronounced chi) as the spirit or breath that gives life to all living creatures.
Which leaves a lot of people mystified. Is it like in Star Wars, where people talk about the force?
“Because it comes from ancient Chinese language and is in Chinese … nobody knows what it should be translated into English,” said Dr. Jingduan Yang, a fifth-generation practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Today Dr. Yang will explain to us in detail how TCM thinks about energy. What is this Qi or Ki that everyone is talking about? How to properly translate it into the English language? And is it possible to marry this ancient wisdom with modern medical traditions?
