Siyamak sits down with Sohan Samran, a farmer in Madera County. He discusses the challenges farmers are facing in California and shares how he was able to build a canal in this property to store some of the stormwater in the underground basin without any help from any government entity.

“They want to downsize our agriculture footprint. It pushes small family farmers out of business. You have to spend $1 [million] to $2 million to get the permit. Cut the red tape, make it simpler.”
