Supreme Court Hears Cases on First and Fifth Amendments

The U.S. Supreme Court holds two argument hearings at 10 a.m. ET on Oct. 7, including Chiles v. Salazar, a First Amendment case concerning the constitutionality of Colorado’s Minor Conversion Therapy Law, and Barrett v. United States, a Fifth Amendment case on whether the Double Jeopardy Clause permits a defendant to be constitutionally punished under two separate laws for the same act of using a firearm during a crime of violence that results in death.
