New CA Law Restricts Fraud Investigations, Critics Say

California is facing backlash after elected officials passed a law that’s being called the “Stop Nick Shirley Act.” Assembly Bill 2624 was signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Aug. 22, and opponents say it restricts the ability of investigative journalists to look into fraud in the state.
