NTD Evening News (Aug. 17): Hawaii Power Company Faces 4 Lawsuits; Call to Investigate Fulton County DA, Threats Against Jury

At least 4 lawsuits have been filed against Hawaii’s largest electricity company. They allege the recent wildfires started from fallen power lines blown down by intense winds. The death toll in the Maui wildfires has reached over 110, but authorities say just 38 percent of the search area has been covered.

A Republican state senator in Georgia called for a special session on Thursday to investigate Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Meanwhile, the Fulton County Sheriff and the FBI are looking into threats made against members of the grand jury that indicted former president Donald Trump.

The House Judiciary Committee is requesting documents from the Justice Department and the FBI over alleged government collusion with Big Tech to censor speech. The House Oversight Committee, meanwhile, is requesting President Biden’s emails that involve Ukraine.
