President Donald Trump welcomed Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to the White House Tuesday to discuss ways to implement the Trilateral Framework, the U.S.-backed deal between Lebanon and Israel that was signed on June 26. Both leaders said they would address the deal’s goals to expand Lebanese military control in the country’s south, reduce Hezbollah’s presence, and enable a phased Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that the federal government will pause more than $1 billion in Medicaid payments to California and Minnesota over alleged fraud. Kennedy said HHS and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are using artificial intelligence and other tools to identify suspicious activity.
New Jersey found around 6,600 non-citizens on its voter rolls due to a software error in the state’s Motor Vehicle Commission system between June 2023 and June 2024. Gov. Mikie Sherrill said under 400 voted illegally and that she was “appalled” by the situation. The White House said in a press release that this error highlights the need to pass the SAVE America Act, which Republicans say will ensure election integrity.
