Rep. James Comer: ‘It’s Important to Stand Up and Answer Questions’ | NTD’s Profiles of Service

In this episode of NTD’s “Profiles of Service,” we speak with Congressman James Comer, who’s been representing North Kentucky’s District 1 since 2016. Comer shares what kind of country he envisions for the next generation, his upbringing in the foothills of Appalachia, and how he lives out his philosophy of transparency.

“I fear the threat to democracy is the fact that so many people in my home state of Kentucky have lost confidence in the government,” he said.

“Profiles of Service” is an NTD News series that features the men and women who have chosen to dedicate themselves to public service. At a time of low trust in the political process—according to a recent Gallup poll, 57 percent of the country has “very little” confidence in Congress—we launched the series as a way to get to know our elected officials on a different level.
