Sen. Kennedy, Public Health Professor Spar Over Gun Control, Root Causes of Gun Violence

Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) questioned Megan L. Ranney, dean at Yale School of Public Health, over her opinions on gun violence and gun control at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on “Gun Violence as a Public Health Crisis” on Tuesday.

The Senator asked the witness whether the 2nd Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens should be curtailed, and if illegal gun ownership by gang members should be prosecuted.
