State Department Spokesman Denies $6 Billion Sent to Iran Freed Up Cash to Fund Hamas Terror Attack
During a Tuesday press briefing in Washington, State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller fielded questions from reporters about whether the $6 billion given to Iran in a recent prisoner exchange by the Biden administration would free up funds within Iran that could have been used to fund terrorism. The questions came after allegations that Iran may have sponsored Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel.
“Iran has, of course, always funded terrorism,” Mr. Miller said.
When asked whether the $6 billion had freed up other funds within Iran that may have helped sponsor the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel, Mr. Miller said that “there is just no evidence that that is accurate.”
