“Entertaining Peace” is a popular Cantonese music masterpiece. It presents the scenes during a time period of peace and prosperity, when people are happy and delightful. During the 1930s, which was the time of the Republic of China, the Guangzhou area had a relatively stable peaceful period, which gave people a cheerful atmosphere, and people placed hope on the upcoming peace and prosperity.

Composer Qiu Hechou (1880-1942), was a Cantonese music performer, composer, educator, and one of the founders of Cantonese music. He was good at the yangqin, erxian, suona, gaohu, etc. His Cantonese music works include ” Entertaining Peace,” ” Lions Sporting With an Embroidered Ball,” “Double Dragon Play Ball,” “Slow Voice,” “Meet and Happy,” among others. These pieces have a strong Cantonese music style and are innovative, which made them extremely popular.
