Twenty-five people were killed in a fire aboard a foreign-owned cargo ship at a Chinese shipyard. The ship, owned by a Chinese company, was undergoing repairs when the fire broke out.

Tensions over U.S. reliance on Chinese technology have reached a boiling point in the auto industry, raising questions over whether licensing Chinese technology is a risk or a necessity as the Department of Transportation faces off with Ford.

Two weeks from now, Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping and President Trump are expected to meet in Washington. Ahead of the visit, China arrested 21 individuals accused of sending drug-laced paper to inmates at prisons across the United States. Two of them, both Chinese nationals, now face federal drug-trafficking charges.
