Womack Backs Emmer for Speaker, Unsure If He Has Enough Support

Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.) on Tuesday told reporters he is backing Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), the Republicans’ current speaker designate after a closed-door vote in Washington, for the speaker of the House post. Mr. Womack, however, indicated there was not enough support for Mr. Emmer among the party and is unsure of the majority whip’s success for the upcoming vote.
