The fact is that it is the United States who owns the majority of patents to core 5G technology, although Huawei is quite strong in the application of 5G. There is another key fact we should not neglect: Huawei steals technology.

While London has yet to make an official decision about whether to ban Huawei from 5G networks, the company is already working with all four of Britain’s major mobile operators to build 5G infrastructure, according to The Guardian.

A recent online poll by the Angus Reid Institute showed that 69 percent of Canadians are against the inclusion of Huawei in the country’s 5G network.

On Jan. 17, Chinese Ambassador to Canada Lu Shaye publicly threatened “repercussions” if Canada bans Huawei 5G technology.

The administration has also lobbied U.S. allies to keep Huawei out of next-generation 5G telecommunications infrastructure.

In it, the aide allegedly explains to the minister how the Chinese ambassador, Feng Tie, had in a meeting four days earlier threatened to pull a trade deal if the Faeroe telecoms operator did not choose Huawei to build its 5G internet networks.

The study also states that European governments should block mobile giant Huawei from providing sensitive parts of 5G infrastructure, warning that the company is beholden to the Chinese state.

Like many countries, the UK is currently deciding whether to allow Huawei to build its 5G networks. BT, one of the largest telecom companies in the country, has rejected Huawei equipment from its 5G network.

His arrest came around the time the previous Morrison government blocked Chinese telecommunication giant Huawei from access to the country's 5G network.

In July last year, Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered that Chinese telecom company Huawei be purged from Britain’s 5G networks by 2027 amid fears of spying and sabotage.

The administration has worked to persuade allies to exclude Huawei from their 5G rollouts, an endeavor that appears to be yielding fruit as a growing number of countries choose alternative telecom suppliers.

"Justin Trudeau has made Canada the only one of our intelligence allies to allow Huawei in our 5G network.

"And for many of the aristocrats that's like the best deal ever, in which you can maintain the Chinese investments, you can have the Huawei and the 5G.

Pelosi said the invasion of privacy that would result from having Huawei integrated into Europe's 5G communication networks would be “like having the state police, the Chinese state police, right in your pocket.”

Nokia is one of the world’s main suppliers of 5G, the latest generation of broadband technology, along with Sweden’s Ericsson, China’s Huawei, and South Korea’s Samsung.

The Globe said Charest was also counselling Huawei in its bid for approval to sell equipment to Canada for construction of the country’s 5G networks.

The United States has said it has evidence that Huawei gear in next generation 5G networks can be used for spying by the Chinese communist state. Huawei has repeatedly denied the claim.

Australia's ties with China have sunk to their lowest point in decades in the past 18 months after Morrison led calls for a global enquiry into the origins of COVID-19 and Australia barred Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies Co from its 5G network.

Australia was also one of the first countries to ban Huawei from its 5G networks on national security grounds.

Beijing has also expressed its displeasure with a number of other Australian policies targeting foreign interference, investment laws, and banning Huawei from the 5G network.

Italy has not joined the United States in imposing restrictions on Huawei but the company was excluded from a recent Telecom Italia tender to supply technology for a 5G network in Italy and Brazil.
