Man Injured During Officer Involved-Shooting With ICE Agent in Austin, Officials Say

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer allegedly shot and wounded a man on Sept. 20 in Austin, Texas, according to city officials.

Authorities have not revealed information about the ICE operation or what led up to the incident on Sept. 20.

“There is not a lot of facts that I can give you at this point,” Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said during a news conference on Sept. 20.

“What I can tell you is [the] Austin Police Department Special Investigation Unit, who investigates our officer-involved shootings, is on the scene, and I have spoken to Texas Rangers who will be part of that investigations and will be working side by side in this investigation as well.”

Davis said no Austin Police Department officers were involved in the shooting.

The shooting victim, who has not been identified, was shot in the torso and taken to the hospital. The victim is in serious but stable condition.

The ICE officer’s name has also not been revealed.

The Epoch Times contacted ICE officials for confirmation but did not hear back by publication time. 

Austin Mayor Kirk Watson said his city’s police department should take part in the investigation to keep ICE accountable.

“I am very angry and extremely disappointed that a person was shot on the streets of Austin by ICE,” Watson wrote on X.

“The horror has come to our city: ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning,” Casar wrote in an X post on Sept. 20. “As the facts emerge, I am demanding a full, independent investigation, immediate release of the body camera footage, and accountability for any ICE officer who broke the law.”

Casar accused ICE officers of “terrorizing our country for far too long.”
