Filmmaker Harun Mehmedinovic trekked into New Mexico’s White Sands dune field to create a time-lapse that’s like a hymn to nature.

The dawn spreads in glory, and the accompanying music seems to meet it with praise and a tone of sanctity.

Cotton-white clouds slip through the sky, casting black shadows on the bleached-white sand. One hears the din of the ocean as the sand ripples in the wind. Spiked shrubs hold fast like sea urchins.

Dust flies up and seems to blast the clouds off the horizon.

Night falls and the ultramarine sky sparkles over a quiet dreamscape.

This video premiered on BBC Earth and was filmed as part of the crowdfunded SKYGLOW project, which raises awareness about light pollution by capturing the beauty of dark-sky preserves.
