Apparently The Sound of Arrows “disdain boredom like space disdains comprehension”. This may be true, but their output is banal and deeply mediocre on the evidence of these 11 tracks. The band buck the trend of most recent “credible” Swedish pop by foregoing the use of songwriting hooks, thus rendering their mainstream electronica not pop enough to trouble the charts and not left field enough for the alternative interest. The album exhibits a kind of naivety which demands you park any cynicism you are carrying and go with the music, but the music veers far too close to execrable Europop to allow anything other than cynicism to flourish.
