Five-year-old Allison is being heralded as a hero after surveillance footage showed her quickly rescuing her mother, Tracy Anderwald, who was floating unconscious in a swimming pool.

After seeing that her mother hadn’t returned from the deep end of the pool for a few minutes, Allison jumped in and pulled her mother to the shallow end, flipping her over so she can breathe, then ran inside the house to tell the other adults, who called 911.

Allison’s mother was rushed to the hospital and has since recovered. Although the doctors had initially suspected possible neurological damage, Allison’s mother later left the hospital.

Allison had been learning to swim since she was two and a half.

“The doctors explained to us that had Tracy been underwater any longer, she probably wouldn’t be with us right now,” Tracy’s sister Tedra told ABC News. “It is truly amazing that this little girl, who’s actually also pretty small for her age, was able to save my sister.”

The accident was caused by a seizure, for which Tracy is seeking treatment.

Tracy said that she hopes this incident will raise awareness about the importance of teaching kids how to swim at an early age. Allison had been learning since she was two and a half.
