Amazon announced Tuesday it is offering ultrafast delivery—three hours or less—on more than 90,000 items in select markets across the United States.

The e-commerce giant’s new delivery system covers electronics, clothing, toys, over-the-counter medications, health and beauty items, and many other items.

The selection is similar to products “typically found in a local supercenter,” the retailer said.

The company’s new three-hour delivery option is offered in more than 2,000 cities and towns and costs $4.99 for Amazon Prime members. Non-members pay $14.99.

One-hour deliveries, now available in hundreds of locations across the United States cost $9.99 for Amazon Prime members and $19.99 for non-members.

Items available for expedited delivery are marked by special messaging next to product names across Amazon’s shopping platforms. Customers also will be able to filter their searches by “in 1 hour” and “in 3 hours” to discover eligible products.

The selection will also appear on a designated Amazon storefront page.

“Our customers are busier than ever and are looking for new ways to save time while keeping their households running,” Udit Madan, senior vice president of Amazon Worldwide Operations, said in a statement.

“We saw an opportunity to use our unique operational expertise and delivery network to help make customers’ lives a little easier while unlocking even more value for Prime members.”

The new one-hour shipping is available in major metropolitan areas such as Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., but also in smaller markets such as Boise, Idaho; American Fork, Utah; and Des Moines, Iowa.

Three-hour delivery is more widely available, covering large, mid-size, and small cities, as well as surrounding suburbs.

Since Amazon Prime launched in 2005, members have grown accustomed to improvements in delivery times—but never at this clip.

“Our new convenient delivery options represent the next phase of innovation, powering even faster delivery speeds in 2026,” the company stated.

The retailer said it developed the high-speed program by taking its same-day delivery process, launched in 2015, and enhancing it.

“Over time, this integrated approach, coupled with our predictive AI inventory placement algorithms, has streamlined the picking, sorting, and fulfillment processes to enable even faster delivery speeds, all while maintaining our high safety standards for employees and delivery partners,” Amazon said.

Madan said the delivery model is an example of Amazon “still innovating to make delivery even faster, while maintaining the same everyday low prices and vast selection.”
