More houses collapsed into floodwaters and thousands more people were displaced in the past several days, as rains and floods moved further into eastern and southern China. Some of the most heartbreaking losses were of historical buildings. According to Chinese state media, the rains and floods have already washed away several century-old bridges and destroyed numerous ancient palaces, including Dragon and Tiger Hall, a famous Taoist shrine on Wudang Mountain.
