NTD Evening News (Aug. 18): Trump Seeks 2026 Trial Date for DOJ 2020 Election Case; Hurricane Hilary Grows to Category 4
Hurricane Hilary is expected to hit Southern California this weekend. The Category 4 hurricane will be bringing heavy rains, strong winds, and high waves to the region.
Former President Donald Trump’s legal team is seeking a 2026 trial date in the federal elections case brought by special counsel Jack Smith. And in the Georgia case, one of President Trump’s co-defendants, Jeffrey Clark, is rejecting the March 2024 trial date. The former president says he’s canceling the press conference on election fraud scheduled for Monday. Meanwhile, The New York Times is reporting that President Trump is expected to skip the first Republican presidential debate on Wednesday and will instead sit down for an interview with former Fox News Host Tucker Carlson.
President Joe Biden hosted the leaders of Japan and South Korea for a summit at Camp David Friday. This is the first standalone meeting for the three powers, as they commit to deeper cooperation.
