Rep. Santos ‘Greeted’ by Protesters After Pleading ‘Not Guilty’ to Fraud Charges
Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) was met with jeers and catcalls from protesters outside a courthouse in Long Island after pleading not guilty to a revised indictment accusing him of several counts of fraud, including making tens of thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges on credit cards belonging to his campaign donors. Mr. Santos is accused of lying to Congress about his wealth, falsely applying for unemployment benefits he didn’t deserve, and scheming to use campaign contributions to pay for personal expenses, like designer clothing. The accused denies any wrongdoing.
