We often take it for granted that whatever is new is better. That isn’t necessarily true. The marketplace can often seize on a product and cause a craze, only to have it disappear in a few years. Everyone looks back and wonders how we could have done that. The paradigmatic case is the waterbed popular in the 1970s and ’80s. What were we thinking?
