Oakland’s Eviction Tsunami Explained | Jonathan Fleming
Oakland is experiencing a record number of evictions after the lift of the eviction moratorium in July.
Our guest today is Jonathan Fleming, a real estate expert from Oakland. He tells us why Oakland is facing an unprecedented housing crisis that is exacerbated by rising crime and massive business closures.
“Oakland looks like a ghost town. If you own something you are like that bad guy,” Mr. Fleming said.
“The city went out of its way in my opinion to tell people not to pay rent. You have landlords who have not received rent … going on four years now. Now, they have to go through the eviction process which is a joke,” he added.
We will talk about these policies and a lot more in this episode.
