Artemis II Mission to the Moon Enters 9th Day (April 9)
NASA’s Artemis II, the first crewed mission of the Artemis program, launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida to the moon on April 1.
The mission sent NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen on an approximately 10-day journey around the moon.
On Day 9, the crew prepares for reentry and splashdown, reviewing procedures and coordinating with the flight control team. NASA conducts another return trajectory correction burn to keep the Orion spacecraft on course.
The crew completes additional demonstrations, including testing waste collection systems and evaluating compression garments designed to mitigate orthostatic intolerance.
