Why It’s Illegal for Farmers to Plant Their Own Seeds

American farmers are facing a big problem: The seeds they use to grow all that food that ends up on our dinner plates—well, they’re expensive. And they’re getting more expensive.

And farmers are now left with no real choice about where to get their seeds.
