The U.S. Senate is due to begin voting on the nomination of Manhattan U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton to be director of national intelligence at 5.30 p.m. ET on Monday. If Clayton wins a majority in the 100-member Senate on the procedural vote, a final confirmation vote is expected later in the week. If approved as director of national intelligence, Clayton would fill a role vacated in June when Tulsi Gabbard stepped down.
