President Donald Trump said on Friday that 80 percent tariffs on Chinese goods “seems right.” He said in a Truth Social post that “China should open up its market to USA—would be so good for them!!! Closed markets don’t work anymore!!!” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and chief trade negotiator Jamieson Greer will meet Chinese economic czar He Lifeng in Switzerland this weekend for talks that could be the first step toward resolving the trade dispute.

Pope Leo XIV celebrated his first mass as pope on Friday in the Sistine Chapel, where he was elected less than 24 hours earlier.
