Why the Establishment is Consistently Shocked by Anti-Establishment Victories: Alex Newman
Anti-establishment politicians are on the rise. We see this with the Argentine elections, which have a new surprise front-runner.
Javier Milei won a primary just a few nights ago, garnering 30% of the vote. Running on a platform of dollarizing the nation’s economy, eliminating the central bank, and shrinking the size of the government in order to fix the economy, he has found massive support amongst citizens that are fed up with the country’s status-quo. Milei draws comparisons to President Trump. His message to Argentina is very similar to the one Trump gave to the US before he won in 2016. A populist, anti-establishment message that the young people in Argentina, particularly, are responding to. And among his first moves if he’s elected President, is to ditch the local federal reserve, and bring in the US dollar. This, paired with the election of a candidate with similarities in Italy, Giorgia Meloni, seems to show a trend of citizens around the world growing increasingly more anti-establishment.
