FalunGong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a traditional self-improvement discipline that includes meditation exercises and bases its moral teachings on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.

FalunGong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a traditional spiritual practice that consists of five gentle, meditative exercises and a moral philosophy centered on the tenets of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.
Ironically, FalunGong has thrived throughout the rest of the world, with currently more than 100 million people from all walks of life practicing it.

Jiang launched his persecution of FalunGong on July 20, 1999. With 100 million practicing FalunGong, each of whom has family members, friends, and colleagues, this campaign in effect targeted all of the people of China.

He noted that before the Chinese leadership went all in against FalunGong 27 years ago, even some senior officials’ families were practicing it.
The regime "went so hard against FalunGong. That was a mistake,” he told The Epoch Times.
And the persecutory machinery the regime uses on its targets—be it FalunGong practitioners, Uyghurs, or house Christians—has only expanded as the world turned away, he said.
