This year marks the 27th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) deadly persecution of the meditation practice Falun Dafa, also known as FalunGong.

Russian authorities raided the homes of several FalunGong practitioners. This is the latest in a string of incidents in Russia's escalating campaign against the spiritual group.
According to the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) own estimates in 1998, there were 70 million to 100 million people in China practicing FalunGong. Since 1999, the regime has systematically sought to defame and eradicate the practice of FalunGong.
The couple said that the United States stands with FalunGong against the CCP's persecution, including via the FalunGong Protection Act, a measure recently approved in the House that would criminalize the CCP's persecution of FalunGong practitioners
"We all know FalunGong is good."
FalunGong, rooted in ancient Chinese beliefs on spiritual improvement, was first introduced by Mr. Li to the Chinese public in 1992.
FalunGong is also commonly known as Falun Dafa.
By 1999, FalunGong had grown to become the largest and fastest-growing practice of the sort in Chinese history.
It suppresses those that don’t submit to its control, including FalunGong.
A Dictator's Personal Jealousy
The decision to persecute FalunGong was made almost unilaterally by then-Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin.

FalunGong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a self-improvement discipline, with adherents taught to follow the principles of “truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.”
Keung said: “Everyone should support FalunGong practitioners in resisting persecution. Otherwise, we are all in danger.”
The Healing Power of FalunGong
Ms. Keung discovered FalunGong in 1996 while visiting her daughter in Australia.
In June 2020, she was sentenced to eight years in prison by a Beijing court for practising FalunGong.
"We stand in solidarity with Ms. Sun and all FalunGong [practitioners], and we call for her immediate release.
He added that FalunGong practitioners worldwide continue to bring a message of freedom and hope.
"FalunGong practitioners in Canada, around the world, and in China are continuing to try to save lives.
In some cases, physical violence has been inflicted on FalunGong practitioners.
FDAC cited an incident on April 27, 2022, where a Caucasian man vandalized the banners being used by FalunGong practitioners at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto.
