About Half of Brand-Name Drugs on TrumpRx Cheaper Than Overseas: Report

TrumpRx met the goal of most-favored-nation drug pricing for American consumers on about half of the brand-name drug prices analyzed in a Sept. 24 study.

TrumpRx is a direct-to-consumer clearinghouse launched in February 2026 that lists discounted prescription medications available for purchase directly from manufacturers.

The study by healthcare policy center KFF compared the prices of 32 branded drugs available through the site to the average prices offered in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

For 17 of the 32 drugs (53 percent), the TrumpRx price was lower than the average listed price in peer nations. Prices for the other 15 drugs exceeded the peer countries’ average.

As of September, the TrumpRx website included 81 brand-name drugs from 16 manufacturers. Deals with nine new manufacturers on Aug. 31 will add more brand-name drugs on the TrumpRx website, covering 89 percent of the branded drug market.

Among the 17 drugs offering the lowest prices to American consumers are medications used to treat brain and nerve conditions, heart disease, and skin diseases. They include cancer medication Rydapt, insulin brand Tresiba, Praluent for heart disease, menopause-related drug Duavee, and weight loss medication Zepbound.

Eight of the drugs cost at least $100 less for a month’s supply in the United States than in other nations. Those medications include Rydapt, with a price nearly $5,000 lower than the peer average, and Mayzent and Zeposia, which are $600 and $350 lower respectively compared to peer countries.

TrumpRx prices for the other 15 drugs analyzed averaged 260 percent more than in peer nations. TrumpRx prices were the highest for 13 of those drugs.

Americans still pay the highest price for Otezla, Enbrel, and Orencia SC, medicines for immune system diseases, under most-favored-nation agreements. Prices for these three are more than $2,500 higher for a month’s supply than in other countries.

The most-favored-nation price for Otezla is at least 20 times higher than the price in Japan. Enbrel is 14 times more expensive in the United States than in Sweden.

Premarin Vaginal Cream, a menopause treatment, is more than 10 times the price on TrumpRx than in Canada.

TrumpRx prices are among the highest for GLP-1 drugs. U.S. prices for the Ozempic Pen and Zepbound KwikPen topped the list.

Other countries still have lower prices than the United States, despite the most-favored-nation agreements, because their supply chain and reimbursement systems work differently, which impacts what the list price of a drug refers to, Lynne Cotter, a senior health policy research manager at KFF, told The Epoch Times.

“As negotiations have been confidential and the Trump Administration has also not made details of [most-favored-nation] discussions available, we cannot tell whether or which benchmarks were used,” Cotter said.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services did not respond to The Epoch Times’ request for comment by publication.
