The 84-year-old mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie was reported missing in Arizona, and search operations have been launched to find her, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said on Feb. 2.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31 at her home near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue, according to a missing persons alert posted by the sheriff’s department. She is described as having brown hair and blue eyes, standing five feet five inches tall.

It is unknown what she was wearing at the time of her disappearance, the poster states. Authorities called on anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the sheriff’s department.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters on Feb. 1 that homicide investigators are involved in the search operation for Guthrie.

Nanos said that authorities have “grave concern” over what they found at the house where Guthrie was last seen, but did not provide any details.

“We get these calls quite often about missing people, and we do a pretty good job on searching the area and alerting the media,” the sheriff said. “But this one stood out because of what was described to us at the scene and what we found and located just in looking at the scene.”

Nanos did not give further details.

When asked about her health condition, Nanos said the family had reported that Guthrie has “no cognitive issues at all” and is of sound mind, but added that she has some physical ailments that limit her mobility.

Nanos said that Guthrie was last seen at her home by her family between 9.30 p.m. and 9.45 p.m. local time. He urged anyone who may have seen the elderly lady after that time to contact the sheriff’s department.

“Maybe you ran into her, maybe she wandered off, and you ran into her. If you seen her or anybody like her, call us,” the sheriff said.

The Epoch Times was unable to reach out to Guthrie’s family for comment by the time of publication.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department issued another missing person alert on Jan. 28 for 67-year-old Denise K. Rose, who was last seen on Jan. 27 walking with a cane and her Chihuahua dog. The alert stated that Rose has a “medical condition that may cause her to be easily confused.” She was found safe just hours after the alert was issued.
