Guthrie Family Says It Received a Message and ‘We Will Pay’ for Mother’s Return

The family of Nancy Guthrie has offered to pay the alleged kidnapper or kidnappers to return their 84-year-old mother, who vanished from her home in the Tucson, Arizona area one week ago.

“We received your message and we understand,” long-time “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, the daughter of Nancy, announced in an Instagram video on Feb. 7.

“We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Saturday’s statement from the family came after the FBI announced it was examining two ransom notes that could be tied to Guthrie’s disappearance.

The first note, sent to a small number of media outlets, allegedly asked for cryptocurrency in exchange for Guthrie to be returned home.

Tucson news station KOLD announced it received the second note in an email on Friday.

“The new note contains something the senders seem to think will prove to investigators they’re the same people who sent the first note,” KOLD news anchor Mary Coleman wrote in a Facebook post on Friday night.

Coleman said KOLD provided investigators with the IP address information from this second note.

“It is NOT the same IP address as the initial note, but it appears the sender used the same type of secure server to hide their IP address,” Coleman said.

Guthrie was last seen the evening of Jan. 31 after she had dinner with her family.

Authorities believe she was removed against her will after DNA tests came back as a match to her from blood found on her front porch.

Guthrie’s disappearance has garnered national attention.

In a Feb. 4 post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump said he had directed federal law enforcement to be at the “complete disposal” of the Guthrie family.

Speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One on Feb. 6, Trump said investigators had uncovered clues “that are very strong.”

“And I think we could have some answers coming up fairly soon,” he added.

The FBI is offering up to $50,000 for information that leads to Nancy Guthrie’s return.
