Described to me by a fellow attendee at a recent gig as “weirdo music” The Deer Tracks produce something that is both sugary sweet and unsettlingly brittle. Taking cues from Icelandic fairytale glitchtronica outfit Müm as well as mining the burgeoning heritage of superb Scandinavian electronica, and at the same time incorporating widescreen grandeur into their songwriting, this isn’t a band who are concerned with consistency. The record isn’t entirely consistent in its quality either but when it soars, as it does most notably on ‘Dark Passenger’ then it’s clear that sometimes the weirdos are the winners.
