BUENOS AIRES, Argentina—Shen Yun's debut in South America left the Buenos Aires crowd spellbound at the Belgrano Auditorium in Argentina Saturday.
The house was full, and not many dry eyes were seen as the curtain closed for the end of the first half.
Businessman and tango aficionado, Mr. García, said he bought tickets at the box office "almost by chance." He was certainly not the exception.
"Truly spectacular,” said Mr. García. “I cannot tell anything missing; just the contrary. The customs, the choreography, the synchronization, truly excellent."
"It truly is such a beautiful thing … I can tell that this is first, first, first class, really."
Mr. García has attended top shows in Paris, but said he had no words to express what he saw in Shen Yun.
"Completely dazzled," he said to this reporter with his eyes open wide and with a notable anxiousness to share the experience.
"I am a Tango person and have not seen many of these shows, almost none at all, but really I am dazzled. Very, very, very, good. I really did not expect this; I mean I had an idea of what it could be, but I was not expecting such excellent show. Really I am, [as well as] my two companions and friend, very excited … really we are in ecstasy. Very, very, very, very good."
The synchronization of “Welcoming Spring” stood out for Mr. García. This women's fan dance depicts the warmth of spring as a welcome blessing after winter’s cold. Quick footwork, crisp movements, and stunning bursts of color form the basis of the dance—its exuberant spirit and marking of the season personify China’s folk dance tradition.
“The customs, their fans that became umbrellas and flowers,” Mr. García said, adding that the tenors also impressed him.
“So far, complete, I don't know what else they got to do. But very good. Really very good."
Before returning to his seat for the second half, Mr. García did not want to lose the opportunity to express his gratitude.
"What can be said is congratulations, I don't know how to put it; I'm really very, very in accord, very happy."
Shen Yun will perform in Buenos Aires until Sunday July 5, with a total of ten shows—in which 11,000 spectators are expected. The show will then travel to Santiago de Chile, for three shows at the Teletón Theater on July 10-12; after which it will return to Argentina to give three shows at the Ofreo Superdome of Cordoba, on July 16 and 18.
