VIDEO: Michigan Dad Shows How Real Maple Syrup Is Made With Traditional Tree-Tapping Method—And Goes Viral

This delightful dad has risen to internet fame after demonstrating the ancient and fascinating process of tapping maple trees for homemade maple syrup in his own backyard.

John Driscoll, 35, decided to document his experience with a short video in the hope a few dozen people would find it as cool as he does.

After posting the first part with him showing how to tap the trees, he put his phone down and carried on with his evening. The next morning, his video had amassed millions of views, and he had thousands of people wanting to watch more.

He then updated his followers with the remaining steps of the process, inspiring numerous others around the world to learn about and try this ancient process themselves.

“I honestly wasn’t expecting anything from this experience other than a few pints of syrup,” Driscoll said. “I have always wanted to make maple syrup. I grew up in Michigan and maple syrup is a very Michigan thing.”
