‘Wildfire: The Legend of the Cherokee Ghost Horse’

After 16-year-old Samantha Nichols (Chevel Shepherd) loses her parents in an auto accident, she moves from Texas to Oklahoma to live with her grandmother and recover from grief. There, she encounters a wild horse and forms a bond with the spirited animal that leads to unexpected hope.

Filmed on location in Cherokee Nation country, this inspiring film features a unique narrative with both Native American and Christian influences. It also marks an enjoyable last film performance by Anne Heche.

‘Paddington’

When a young bear (voiced by Ben Whishaw) travels from Peru to London, he is taken in by the kindhearted Brown family, who name him “Paddington” after the train station where they found him. What follows is a series of madcap adventures as Paddington adjusts to his new life, while avoiding a cruel, exotic animal collector.

This family-friendly animated film succeeds on its own terms, without pandering to any modern pop-culture references. It’s a charming, feel-good affair, with wholesome messages and many laugh-out-loud bits.

This charming romantic tale features a well-written story and engaging characters with realistic personalities and motivations. Its further accentuated by solid acting performances and believable chemistry between its leads.

Despite some historical inaccuracies, the fine acting performances by its main cast carry this classic adventure through to its satisfying climax.
