Dear Next Generation: The Values That Carry Us

BY Dear Next Generation TIMEOctober 6, 2025 PRINT

Stop searching for something better and start enjoying what you have now. Practice humility because without the good Lord’s gifts, you could probably not survive.

Choose your friends wisely, and treat them like family.

Never forget the parents, teachers, and coaches who made you who you are today.

Prepare yourself for sudden setbacks, disappointments, and failures. Life is full of challenges that we all must face.

Be grateful for whatever you have because millions of folks would love to have what you have.

Enjoy the simple things in life. Don’t make life harder than it already is.

Help other people in need with your money and actions.

Get eight hours of sleep, and eat healthy fruits and vegetables.

Forgive all who have hurt you, and be the victor, not the victim.

Do not judge yourself harshly. We learn by our mistakes.

Spend quiet time for yourself, and walk 30 minutes every day.

The more you read, the more you learn how much you don’t know.

Doing the right thing is not always popular with friends and family.

We must understand that we cannot heal all wounds or relationships no matter how hard we try.

What advice would you like to give to the younger generations?
We call on all of our readers to share the timeless values that define right and wrong and pass the torch, if you will, through your wisdom and hard-earned experience. We feel that the passing down of this wisdom has diminished over time and that only with a strong moral foundation can future generations thrive.
Send your advice, along with your full name, state, and contact information to NextGeneration@epochtimes.com or mail it to: Next Generation, The Epoch Times, 5 Penn Plaza, Floor 8, New York, NY 10001.
