‘Desi Food Truck’ Makes It to the Finals of NYC Vendy Awards, 2014

The 10th Annual Vendy Awards will be held in New York City on Saturday, September 13th between 12.30 pm and 5.00 pm at Governors Island. 

For those who aren’t  aware about this, Vendy Awards is an intense cook- off between the most popular sidewalk chefs in the city. 

Alamgeer “Al” Elahi, the founder and owner of Desi Food Truck, a mobile NYC vendor is one out of the five finalists of the Vendy Cup Awards, 2014 from New York City . He brings the best of Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi cuisine right to the heart of SOHO. His charisma makes everything he feeds you come with a burst of excitement. 

At Desi Food Truck, you will find authentic zabiha halal which a street food from the Indian sub continent, spanning across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Afghanistan. He explains,  that the term-  Desi itself means the food and people of the continent. 

Almgeer’s main reason to start this food truck was his craving for authentic Indian street food in New York City. He aim was to bring the tastiest version of “Puri Bhaji” also known as Game Changer and Haleem to New York. His main goal is to bring the thousand year old food culture of India and make it contemporary.
