Actress Selma Blair was arrested after allegedly assaulting flight attendants and attempting to open an aircraft door during a Delta Air Lines flight bound for New York City.
A Delta Air Lines spokesperson confirmed that Flight 938, traveling from Los Angeles International Airport to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on Oct. 11, landed ahead of schedule without any operational impact.
“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first,” a Delta spokesperson said in a statement to The Epoch Times in response to the incident.
The airline addressed reports, first by TMZ, that Blair, 54, had attempted to open the plane’s door while in flight, saying Delta was aware of the claims but could not confirm that detail as accurate.
The aircraft continued to JFK, where law enforcement officers met the plane after it landed and Blair was identified. She was arrested upon arrival and taken to a hospital for medical evaluation.
In a statement to The Epoch Times, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said two members of the flight crew were injured in the confrontation, and one was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The incident did not result in a reported emergency diversion, and the flight reached its destination. The FBI is currently investigating the incident. Further details surrounding potential criminal charges and the status of the investigation have not been publicly announced.
It remains unclear exactly what led to the alleged confrontation. However, a representative for Blair told TMZ in a statement, “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
In 2016, Blair was involved in a separate in-flight incident while returning to Los Angeles from a vacation in Mexico. She experienced a medical crisis and was taken off the plane on a stretcher.
Blair later apologized in a statement to Vanity Fair after the 2016 incident, explaining that she had mixed alcohol with medication, which caused her to black out. She described the experience as deeply upsetting and expressed regret for disturbing fellow passengers and crew members.
The actress is best known for her roles in films including “Cruel Intentions,” “Legally Blonde,” and “Hellboy.” Over the years, she has publicly spoken about her personal struggles and health.
In 2018, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a chronic neurological condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. Blair said she suffered from onset symptoms for at least 15 years before receiving an official diagnosis.
“I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “My left side is asking for directions from a broken gps. But we are doing it. And I laugh and I don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.”
