Pop singer Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were spotted embracing on the singer’s yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara in newly surfaced photos obtained by The Daily Mail.
The photos seemingly confirm the romance of Perry, 40, and Trudeau, 53, during an outing in California.
“I didn’t realize who she was with until I saw the tattoo on the guy’s arm, and I immediately realized it was Justin Trudeau,” an eyewitness reportedly told the Mail.
Speculation swirled around the rumored duo back in July when they were seen dining out together at “Le Violon” in Montreal, TMZ reported, while Perry was in Canada during her “Lifetimes Tour,” which kicked off in Mexico City on April 23.
Soon after their dinner, Trudeau, accompanied by his daughter, attended one of Perry’s live performances with footage circulating on social media of the former Canadian leader singing along to her hit song “Firework.”
At the time, representatives for Perry had announced her split after nearly 10 years with ex-fiancé and actor Orlando Bloom, 48. They share a daughter Daisy Dove Bloom, 5, and in a joint statement to People said their primary focus was “co-parenting.”
“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” the representative said.
“They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”
Trudeau and his ex-wife, Sophie Grégoire, a former television host, separated in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They have three children, Xavier, 17, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11.
In a since-deleted Instagram post, the two said they came to the mutual decision after “many meaningful and difficult conversations.”
“As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build,” read the announcement at the time.
On Jan. 6, Trudeau announced his resignation as Canadian Prime Minister and remained as the Liberal Party leader until March 9, when economist Mark Carney was elected as his successor.
Meanwhile, Perry is set to wrap up her tour on Dec. 7 at an after-race concert for the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Etihad Park in Abu Dhabi.
