Rep. Don Bacon, From Air Force General to Top Effective GOP Lawmaker | NTD’s Profiles of Service

In this episode of NTD’s “Profiles of Service,” we sit down with Congressman Don Bacon, representing Nebraska District 2. After a distinguished 30-year career in the Air Force, Brig. Gen. Bacon won a seat in Congress in 2016, where he’s been just as effective. In 2022, he was ranked the No. 1 most effective Republican legislator in the House by the University of Virginia and Vanderbilt University’s Center for Effective Lawmaking.

He shares that his north star in life is the Bible, which teaches some things that seem counterintuitive to politics, such as “pray for your enemies and love those who persecute you.”

“That is a hard line, and I’ve been challenged by that verse since I’ve been in politics,” he says.
